Push Start?

This was my hope. Seems like it would have been handy to build this [cough] feature into the hood.

I have had that problem, you can open the door with the key, I could not get the car to jump start. I had to trickle charge the battery thru the Cig lighter and open the hood with the normal way when there was enough of a charge to release the hood release.
