Backfire through intake?
Hello,
My car has done this from new, however it is happing more recently. Sometimes when I first start the car for the day, it will make a popping sound, like a burp or backfire, from the intake. Just one or too pops.
The car has been de-snorkeled, but retains the original air box.
Car seems to run fine otherwise, one time a CEL came on and blinked and then went off never to return. I took it to the dealer and they said that the computer does not have any error codes.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
James

sounds like a vac leak. mine did this after "I" installed the evo intake. I fixed the vac leak and it never did it again.

Mine did that when the Mass Air Flow sensor failed.

I am sure that this has been discussed before, but here it goes anyways.
What are the symptoms of a MAF failure? The car does seem lately to be less quick than before, I thought it may just be a few tanks of crappy gas.
Thanks,
James

jhandy, your issue is a symtom of a MAF becoming less efficent, You can try removing it and spraying it down with electrical parts cleaner, and allowing it to sit in the sun for 10 minutes to dry... reinstall and you should feel some power return.
