Dealer Looking Up Service History

I may have not have understood this correctly. I called the local dealer with vin number in hand, asked them if they could run it and see what history came up.

They said they could not cross reference other dealers records and it would only show if any service was done at their dealership.

Is that correct?

I think this may be true. But I would think all dealership can "see" warranty claims work.

As for service & maintenance work, maybe only the dealership that performs the work has the actual records.

Do you know where the car was first purchased? Maybe they will have more service records.

Right on. To recreate a full history when the car has had mutliple dealers service, you have to actually contact them all, if known.
