It's a hack, I have it in my Boxster and have made a couple up for others. The switch is a Targe Shade Switch that looks conveniently like a garage door, it's a two position switch that looks right at home in the dash. All you need to do is take your garage door opener and solder a couple of wires in then snap it in to the dash, works great.

The switch is about $30 from Suncoast, for the actual circuit you can use any garage door opener that works with your garage. You can hook up two openers, one on each side of the switch.

Chris.

Did you install it in the rear center console or in the dash position? Did you illuminate it as well?

I have it in the dash in the horseshoe, it should be just as easy to put in the center console if you don't have heated seats. Illuminating it is just a matter of chaining two wires to another switch then it'll light up when they do.

Where did you put the circuit board? I assume it would have to be someone easy to get to for when you have to change the battery and give off the signal.

So what I gather is I can just buy a switch, wire and use my existing opener?

Exactly, if you have a spare just pop it open and trace the circuit to the switch, solder on a couple of wires and you're all set. The remote is behind the console so if and when the battery dies you can just pop the console off and change it. I have pics somewhere, if I can find them I'll post later.
