Where do you buy your Mobil 1?

Where do you buy your Mobil 1? And are you able to get 0-40?

Nick-NY 05-18-2007 08:53 AM

Wal-Mart!, not all but some carry it.

johne4 05-18-2007 08:57 AM

Wal-Mart, 5 Quart jugs, I use 10-40 since I live in a warm climate year round.

2000SoCalBoxsterS 05-18-2007 09:15 AM

I just bought some Mobil 1 0W-40 at Walmart for $5.97 a quart. AutoZone had it for $6.29/qt. And the thieves at my local Porsche charged me $10/qt last time I had them do it.

boggtown 05-18-2007 09:16 AM

I went to my wal mart and they only had 5-30 and 10-40, I would get 10-40 but I drive in winter. I will have to ask if they can ship some in next time im in there.

70Sixter 05-18-2007 10:10 AM

I also just bought mine at Advance Auto for $5.98/qt. Wally World did not have it.

BoxsterBob - CA 05-18-2007 10:23 AM

Costco is ~$5 qt., but they rarely have 0w-40

r9i8c7k 05-18-2007 11:05 AM

Oil

Kragen for $5.99/Qt

Cloudsurfer 05-18-2007 06:45 PM

I get mine at Pep Boys.

I would not recommend running anything other than 5-40 or 0-40.

Advance Auto Parts had it by the case last time I needed it. I don't know how much I paid. I must've still been stunned by the $43.00 oil filter I got from my friendly neighborhood Porsche dealer.

$43 ! Even when my Porsche dealer did my oil change they only charged me $24 and when I just bought one at the Porsche dealer parts counter they charged me $21. Did you pay $43 for just the insert? Or did you buy an insert and the housing?

wanna986 05-18-2007 08:12 PM

I think I paid under $15.00 at NAPA...

$43.00 for the insert, O-ring and crush washer. Ridiculous, isn't it? I'll be going to NAPA from here on out. It so happened that I was driving by the Porsche dealer the day before I wanted to change the oil, so I stopped there. Oh well, live and learn.

djomlas 05-18-2007 10:35 PM

so wait, NAPA has the oil filter, or the oil?
im refering to $15

kt1 05-19-2007 02:46 AM

djomlas: Napa has the oil filter for $15

Frank Patrick 05-19-2007 07:51 AM

Sams

sweet, thx
does it come with O-ring and crush washer? or just the insert?

kt1 05-19-2007 06:31 PM

When I bought it mine came with the o-ring and crush washer but it seems they may package it differently in different zones, so your mileage may vary.

jwilson95 05-20-2007 08:00 AM

Are you guys getting Mahle filters at the Napa or some other brand?

JMW
;)

Paul 05-20-2007 09:45 AM

Fleet Farm for $4.97 0w-40.

When you buy a filter from Porsche the O-ring is in the box, but not the crush washer. The reason is that the filter is used on other vehicles that use different washer(s). You need to ask for the washer. If the parts guy is smart he will ask you what vehicle you have so he can get the correct washer.

Porsche has switch oil filter brands.

I am using a Wix oil filter. I found out about Wix from a guy on the Pelican board who said he bought it from Napa. No Napa where I live, but I was able to find the Wix filter at an independent car parts place down the street from me. I do not know if Napa sells a brand other than Wix.

My Porsche filter from Suncoast was $13.45, but shipping added $7.79. But no state tax. Came with crush washer and o-ring in box. O-ring was a lighter shade than last two, and contrasted with the black threaded area.

Paul 05-20-2007 10:24 AM

I bought a ten pack from ebay years ago...

When I looked at the Hengst filter now being sold by Porsche I also noticed the O-ring was not black like it was with the Mahle filter.
