Cel 1130

My time has come....ugh
On my way home yesterday stuck in traffic in the torrential downpour my CEL came on. I later on had the OBD read and it displayed code 1130.
I've searched the forum and there are a lot of instances with a CEL 1130 a majority pointing to the MAF sensor. Maybe it was just a fluke due to the bad weather.....but
What I'm going to do.
1. Reset the CEL wait to see if re occurs
2. If CEL comes on clean the MAF reset the CEL and wait....
3. If CEL comes on again replace MAF sensor.
I have approx. 37400 miles on the car. My air filter was replaced with the factory original when the car had about 27,000 miles. The car runs fine I don't feel any hesitation.

I read about the anti tamper torx 20 tool needed and CRC's electronic cleaner and make note of the MAF part # if step 2 is needed.

Does Suncoast and Sunset sell the same OEM part?

You should go ahead and clean the MAF before you reset the CEL. Yes, use the CRC MAF cleaner that you can get at AutoZone or Pep Boys. I took out the MAF and cleaned last week as I always do for standard maintenance not because I had a CEL. Yes, you need the security Torx 20 bit. Just pull out the MAF slowly. If you are adventurous like me, you should also clean the air intake throttle body but the rubber/plastic boot attached is a pain to remove and install. I find it easier with 2 person...one person to push/pull the boot and the other person to wiggle slowly from the passenger side. Keep us posted.

Just cleaning MAF and even replacing is adventurous enough for me.
Anything else is beyond my ability.

Fab, yeah I understand. Just do it slowly. The 2 screws for the MAF are right there when you look down at the big plastic air tube near the air box (on driver's side). If you need a pic, let me know..I can email you tonight as my camera is at home.

Fab. Do you have a Tamper Proof Torx set? If not, you will need them to remove the tamper proof torx screws that hold the MAF onto the intake tube.

They come in handy in the future incase you need to paint your interior peices because most of them are held in by torx head screws.

I bought a set of TP-Torx bits from Sears for around 7 bucks and they are Craftsmen so if they break, you get free replacements for life.

porschedude- I got some pics from a link posted in one of the threads from my search. Thanks for the offer.
CJ- Yeah, need to buy another tool.....which I don't mind especially when I will be saving tons of moolah doing it myself.

Quick question, could I harm the MAF if I wore plastic gloves to do the cleaning?

It shouldnt matter gloves or not... but at all costs, try your hardest not to touch the part of the MAF that is IN the intake tube with your hands.

Update:
Had the MAF cleaned and reset CEL. Car is running fine until the other day. I was stuck in traffic and the CEL came on. This is the second time CEL came on while I was stuck in traffic, pretty much stop and go.
I haven't had a chance to take it to a local AZ to read my code but I susoect it's a 1130 again.
I've searched numerous threads and a majority of folks reporting a CEL 1130 also got a CEL 1128. My case it's just CEL 1130.

What do you think it could be?
1. MAF
2. 02 sensor
3. AOS
