Got stereo system installed, now car doesn't beep when alarm is activated

I just got a stereo installed in my box, AVIC-D3, new dash, door, and rear speakers, 2 amps...

Anyway, now when I leave my car and lock it with the remote, it no longer beeps as it used to. Is this normal when a stereo is installed, and anyone know the fix for this?

Boxsters normally do not beep when locking the car with the remote unless there is something open. Or in your case if you didn't have a radio in there prior to the installation of your new stereo. Your car may in fact be locking with the remote now.

I had the Becker installed beforehand and it would beep about 2 seconds after the door would lock. There was no beep when it unlocked though.

Anyway, now there is no beep at all when it's locked.

If it beeps 2seconds after a single push lock then that means there is something open in the circuit. This can be the door being left open, hood, trunk, missing radio...etc. Now you can make it beep everytime if you press the lock button twice quickly. This should cause the alarm to beep immediately.

Your factory radio must not have been in contact with the factory ground and that is why it was beeping. With the aftermakert radio intalled im sure the installer removed or covered up the wire that was the OEM radio ground to the alarm and that is why it no longer beeps.

Hope that makes sense to you...
