my 1st autoX...loved it

so went to the autocross this saturday with patrick, his gf, nick, and greg.
met some cool people there, very nicely put together event, will definitely try and make it out to their events some more. patrick got us food and drinks too, so that was great. me and nick looked like lobsters at the end of the day from the sun, we were all there from 8ish till 5 or so... <- no pics of that haha
my car got named Miami at the event, so everyone...meet Miami hehe (btw, as u can see i had texas style letters and numbers on a miami car lol)
got a HUGE bruise on my right leg from hitting the console, so as much as i hate the GT3 delet kit, ill have to do either that or come up with something creative.

patrick got 1st place in our class, i was in the car when he pulled the time, wow hes a great driver, definitely got great tips from him, i got 4th and nick was riggght behind me, so that was good fun. difference between S and nonS is night and day on track, wow.
we all beat some STIs and EVOs timewise so that was good fun(last 3 spots were all STIs lol)
and i found the guy who took my #162, at least it went to a good place, definitely a cool guy.
unfortunately i dont have any pics of my car, or their cars running the course couse we were all in the same class and after eachother, but i got A LOT of pics of everyhtign else, including our cars.
so i posted them on a diff forum, a lot of people from there attented, and theres just too many to repost, so heres a link if anyone wantes to see pics.

and if you guys want any hi res pics, let me know

btw, got me some magnetic numbers cut today, few hrs and good exacto knife

I'm so glad to hear you had a good time! Yesterday was our first event locally... my car isn't out of the shop yet, so I co-drove an MR2 Spider, and did a few fun runs in my friends Elise.

Autocross is a drug, I swear.

I autocrossed yesterday too! Great weather and a good time as well.

* I put in my GT3 Delete kit earlier in the week and LOVED the extra Knee/Leg room. No bruises here.

What a great day for an autocross! It was great that you and NickCats could join me and my crew for the day and we look forward to the next one.

Congrats to DJ for putting in some great times for a "newbie" and to NickCats for knocking some serious time off throughout the day!

I still don't own a helmet and I'm not sure if I ever will.

Trust me it is not nearly as bad as some of the guys here say it is. I've never had a sweaty helmet. Most helmets aren't even being used since most people have them already.

Never been a problem for me...

I've done 5 auto-crosses so far

Saturday was a blast ! Luckily my burn turned to a nice, dark tan ( it’s nice to be Greek )

Sammy is truly a gifted driver, 4 seconds faster than 2nd place.

DJ was awesome for his first time out and beat me by 4 seconds as well.

At least I beat two of the STi’s !

Look forward to seeing you guys this Sunday !

Nick

Locally we have an "abandoned" airstrip that we get to use a lot, giving us courses that can be upwards of 70-80 seconds for FTD. In fact, the SCCA ProSolo is using the site for one of this events (Seneca Army Depot).

Oh, and I say "abandoned" because I swear I see new landing marks there every so often.

That's long. I'm assuming you don't get as many attendees, though?

Over here, we have had up to 134 registered drivers... maybe that's why they make the runs shorter.

That and some of the organizations don't make efficient use of the parking lots.

I'd like to check one of the events out at Rochester.

Im turned off my tracks like that, no embankments, not edges painted on the track pavement, just cones... set really far apart no less!

The track day i had at Fontana Speedway was AWESOME compaired to parking lot tracks. Do you have any realllll tracks out there?

I'd like to check one of the events out at Rochester.
Events out at Seneca (it's about a 45 minute drive from Rochester) typically don't see as many participants as our closer events (one of our locations is on a college campus, so we get a lot of students). Because the course is so long we can typically have 3-4 cars on course without any safety issues, so we can crank through runs pretty fast. I typically see 4-6 runs out there.

You should come out to one of our events! I'd love to have another Box participate (it can get kindda lonely with all the s2ks and Evos.... and then me).

Here's the pdf from one of our last events last year out there:

http://www.flr-scca.com/solo/06archives/event6.pdf

I took second in Novice with a whooping 82.89, hehe.
