intro: new boxster owner

Hello,
After a couple of false starts and much research, I have finally brought my first Porsche home. 2000 boxster S with 13,800 miles. I'm just coming from the WRX world which has much more active forums, so this is taking some getting used to. Previous to that, I had 3 miatas and a Triumph TR6. Anyway, look forward to driving my new obsession and contributing to this board.

About the car, a fairly stripped down 2000 S. the sport package (as i soon found out) is not very sporty. the 18" fikse rims were tacked onto the sticker by beverly hills porsche for $6200!!! original price with rims was $60,500. I of course can not afford a $60,500 car.

Welcome, I too came from the Subaru world and am still a very active member on NASIOC. I had an 05 WRX at stg2 and will most likely get an 08 or 09 STi for a fun daily in the future.

Enjoy your new car. I know I do.

Nice car. I'm starting to think we should start an Arctic Silver Only Club. Welcome aboard.

thanks

Thanks for the comments!
When I originally looked at the car, I was worried that the rims would be cheap. Then I saw they were Fikse, then I googled Fikse, then I realized they were really nice rims.
The car is a 6 speed and otherwise is completely stock.
The handling of this car is pretty much unbelievable. None of my previous cars had stock suspension and even with all the mods on those other cars, this boxster just blows them away.

I plan on keeping the car pretty much stock (we'll see how long that lasts!!)
This is my list of things to do:

1. ipod adapter for the cdr-220. i was pleasantly surprised when I read on these forums, that its not a big deal to do.
2. short shifter. the throws seems a little long and is taking me a little while to get used to. then again, i've only put 15 miles on the car.
3. litronics/new tails. quite expensive and probably not realistic for me right now. i'm broke.

forget the Ipod adapter and litronics...the first and must mod for your boxster is a nice loud screaming exhaust. GHL/Cargraphic, etc.

I also drive a red 00 boxster s and currently have 42k miles.. I spoiled myself and installed Ruf wheels, etc.

fog lights

i'm going to try and keep my stupid questions limited. and also maybe keep them limited to this thread, rather than littering the entire forums.

ummm, do i have fog lights???
i've read the manual several times.
turn the headlights on.
pull the switch out. tried pulling it 1 click and 2 clicks.
waited for a second.
turned back counter-clockwise toward the foglight parts. nothing. headlights turn off.

the manual is pretty funny. it doesn't really put "(optional)" on any features that are optional. just have to figure out what i have or don't have. there's no mention of any foglights on the window sticker.

also for the rear foglights?? would those just be the reverse lights?

Welcome and congrats!

I am not familiar with non-lit headlights so I can't help you on the fogs. The rear fog will be on the driver's side, bright red. It is a completely seperate bulb from any other rear light functions.
