Question - Fuel Filter for 2002 Boxster???

According to the Bentley Manual and some other forum sources I can't recall offhand, " (for) 2002-2004 models: Fuel filter is integrated with fuel pump and fuel level sender in fuel tank. It is specified by Porsche as 'lifetime filter' , owing to the reduced volume of fuel flowing through (the) non-return system. No replacement interval is specified." No worries, mate. I haven't heard of fuel filter issues in 2002 and later boxes.

I'm changing my Fuel Filter tmw. I actually don't like the fact that it is a Filter, yet no Service Interval. If it has no return line, it may not clog in the same amount of time, but the very nature of a filter is to eventually clog.

I heard that the filter is replaceable on the eGas models, but as mentioned, this involves pulling the whole Pump/Gauge Sender/Filter stalk from the Fuel Tank and disassembling it, a lot more work than is waiting for me with my '99 - undoubtedly more expensive too...

That's what I suspected...the fuel filter is integrated with the fuel pump etc in the tank. The fact that Porsche specified a filter as lifetime is really ridiculous to me....all filters get dirty. Just bothers me cause I like all my filters clean....sounds like they don't even sell the filter separately...looks like you have to buy the entire fuel pump assembly etc., which is crazy.

checked with my local Porsche dealer- and you are quite correct, at least for the 02's and newer.
