Finally real pics of my car (56k warn)

As you may remember, I bought my '98 Tip about 5 or 6 weeks ago, but I didn't have a digital camera... so, here are some pics finally. (notice my daily driver in the background....)

I picked it up for $16,000 plus tax.... 52,900 miles... already have 53,800 miles NOT driving it daily. Options include hard top... six-disc cd changer... on board computer... and I dunno what else.

Those with great attention to detail will notice the "Boxster" emblem is a few inches higher than it should be. This is because there was an incredibly annoying, but small, ding in the rear deck lid that I covered nicely with the emblem.

First thing is first,BUY NEW WHEELS PRONTO!

Hugh D 04-10-2007 07:32 PM

I hear ya man, but I'm happy with it right now... even getting it was a stretch for me, so I am not about to go dumping money on it that I dont have to.

I would like... new wheels... new hood (bc of a dent) ... and repaint bumper (lots of chips)... but none of that is happening soon .. maybe never

boggtown 04-10-2007 07:32 PM

Ive never even seen that style wheel before. lol

jwilson95 04-10-2007 08:32 PM

The only other time I have seen them was on the loaner car from our local Pcar dealer a few years back.

Welcome to the group Hugh. I must agree with the others that you need to at least get some 17's when the budget allows. They're cheap.

Jeff

djomlas 04-10-2007 10:06 PM

your boxster logo appears to be very high on the trunk, dont you think?
*edit: just saw your post about the ding (those are usually from stuff flying inside the trunk and hitting the inside of it, i have like 3 on my trunk)
nice car tho man, very nice

Welcome. I have to agree with other members.
Top of your list "TO DO" New Wheels - when you have the cash available.
Enjoy it :)

haha, mine came with those too, 16" stockies... then I got rid of em right away lol...though when they were on, the car did accelerate much quicker than with the 18s on

Rob-00BoxsterS 04-11-2007 02:10 AM

No, no, no. I think the first mod should be -

a new front license plate. :)

I think the car (and the wheels) look great.....

1JB 04-11-2007 04:27 AM

That's a classic Hugh. Great looking car. I wouldn't change a thing. I'd keep it as true to it's original condition as I could.

Hugh

Car looks great ! I love the look with the hard top !

Congrats and welcome to the club…

Nick

Thanks guys...

I am gonna keep it this way ... probably for as long as I have it. The wheels I dont mind so much... especially since the ride is so smooth and quiet, yet still handles great.

Oh, and I almost thought about selling the hard top just bc I had it in the garage for about 3 weeks.... but last weekend was rainy and boy did it come in handy.... the top looked beautiful on the car and the ride was INCREDIBLY quiet and comfortable.

As far as the front plate... I am still waiting for my new plates to come in... front and back. Taking entirely too long... I'm about to go yell at people at the dealership tomorrow to see if they actually sent off for them 6 weeks ago. (I've never had plates take this long.)

Congrats Hugh, also love the look with the hardtop! How do you like the tip? I've never driven one, always been curious.

jmabasa 04-11-2007 05:26 PM

Nice ride man. That is Lapis Blue right? The best color in the world man! :D

Hugh D 04-11-2007 05:42 PM

With all my city driving... I really like the tip... sometimes I feel like a girl with it but whatever... :o

It's not lapis... it's ocean... someone at work has a lapis boxster though ... it's a very nice color (more rare too, it seems)

Boxter 04-11-2007 06:44 PM

congrats and enjoy...

I also don't think the 16s look that bad at all, especially since they are probably the least common set available.

Good luck with it.

If you need tires (and wheels), I think a member of this forum has a set for sale on Ebay at what I think is a good price. I have a 99 and these wheels were a $1250 upgrade just for the wheels.
