vacuum leak - DYI wanted

Hi,

is there anywhere a good DYI to look for vacuum leaks?
My problem is that I have the big Bentley manual but have problems matching the drawing of the vacuum system to all the hoses that I see in the engine bay (yes I know I am an idiot - no further comments needed
So does anyone have a DYI (with pictures) that allows me to identify the hoses I need to check for a leak?

Many thanks
