Well, a lot of people have had this feeling for a while now. The 911, although an amazing car, needed to move into the mid engine area from a performance standpoint. I highly doubt that this is real mainly because the 911 sales will shrink if this is released. Unless Porsche decides to cripple it again like they did the original Cayman. it would be interesting to see though since I am sure that all else being equal and using the same engine and transmission the Cayman would be a better car than the 911.

That has been long established, so you'll hardly find one here to argue against it. And the marketing crap about the Cayman occupying the space BETWEEN the Boxster and the 911? It's a Boxster Coupe, for crying outloud, and is more expensive than the convert, to boot.

a case in point: at the PCA club races, the burden the Cayman with a weight disadvantage to the 911; they have to run at 3104 including driver.

"Positioned between the 911 and the Boxster, the Porsche Cayman S has established an overwhelming performance identity," said Peter Schwanzenbauer, President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America"

Yes, and I am a legend in my own mind.

You have to love this marketingspeak!

a long time ago I got into the habit of reading the introductory paragraph/line and then zipping down to the conclusion. If the conclusion sounds like an interesting concept I'll hold off on my ADD long enough to go back to the 2nd paragraph.
Once I read Cayman GRP or whatever listing for UNDER $80K ROFL!!!..... (or anything high end from Porsche for under $80K....
I knew the origins were suspect.
