I have used Goo Gone all the time. It will work fine. Just spray it on and let is sit for a little bit then wipe off. It also got some really nasty backed in break dust off the wheels on my old car. The only thing is to keep in mind not to let it sit under direct sunlight. There is a good chance it might damage paint that way, so do it in your garage.

Plain old Naptha a.k.a. regular lighter fluid is all you need.
