Are you talking about base, S, or does it not matter. I got my 2000 S in December with 38,000 mi for $21,500 and I thought I got a great deal. Now I'm not so sure.

FYI - Even if I didn't, I don't care. I LOVE this car. It's exactly what I would have wanted no matter how many I would have looked at (triple black, 18" wheels, and sport seats). When I first got it, I figured I would sell my BMW, drive it as a DD for a year and sell it for something else. Now I'm keeping the BMW, the Boxster is the fun weekend car and the 911SC is the one being shown the door.

Bought a 2002 base model for the same price in PA last August at a non-Porsche dealer. 2 month warranty. Ended up buying an outside warranty through the dealer for ~ 2 grand.

Black. No heated seats. 20k miles at the time. Stability control. Brand new top + motor replaced under Porsche warranty.

At the risk of souding like an advert... these guys were absolutely amazing to work with. Looks like they don't have a base model right now though.

They picked up the tab on the PPI.

When considering peoples' opinions on pricing, you might want to check where they live. I think Boxster prices are a little softer in places like California and Texas where they are more plentiful.

You might have to pay a little more if you are not willing to purchase a car from out of state. I travelled to the DC area to buy mine since there were only a few for sale in Richmond and the asking prices were higher.

I just bought a 2002 Boxster (with sports package and heated seats) for $23,500 in the Chicago area. They were asking $25,900 - negotiated to $23,900 then got another $400 off after the PPI - (needed alignment and a few other minor details).

The car had 23,000 or so miles and was like new inside - outside was a 8.5 or 9 out of 10 (one ding, one or two scuffs and one or two surface scratches).

Definitely do the PPI - made me feel a lot better about buying the car.

Hope this helps.
