I could see that if you were rolling in so much $$ it was sticking out of your ass, but the fact is, most people that buy these cars are not uber-billionaires like you may think, and they do have budgets and such to adhere to, and money IS somewhat of importance.

But if that is his reason, then hey, good for him

You could be right, however, the maintenence costs alone for both vehicles would bankrupt most budgets that include a mortgage.

I was really just wondering what was so different about the two that he wants to keep both. Not trying to knock him for having both in any way.

I want to know some insider details about the cars.

The cars are night'n'day different. The Ferrari has a very light feel and more edgy style (you can let the tail hang out pretty easily). The Lambo is super solid, planted, but also quite heavy. It takes much more effort to move around, but you have a higher level of confidence that you can go real fast in turns.

And that's just the driving part. Everything else is very different too. Sound, interior feel and look, and of course the difference of coupe vs spider.

I'm not convinced that I'll keep both, though. If one of them turns out to be used way more than the other, I'll probably sell the lesser used one.

Money is certainly a concern. And I don't have 18K gold faucets either .

BTW, running costs are low as long as the cars are in warranty. The Lambo only has 2 years, though. The Ferrari has 4(!).

Four is impressive.

Two is ridiculous.

Shows which companies are confident in their product and which aren't.

Although I've never driven or ridden on a Lambo or a Ferrari, I get the feeling their respective logos, "bull" and "horse" are descriptive metaphors for what the cars are all about.

Lamborghini seems more brutish whereas Ferrari seems more light-footed, soar-through-the-air, agile; just about anything but brutish.

Just my perception anyways.

To be fair, the 430 coupes have 3 years. And their 12 cylinders (599, 612) only has 2 as well.

The generous 4 years on the spiders come from Ferrari bundling an extra warranty on the cars to jack up the price.

It definitely still is nice, though. But as usual there's more to the story.

I'd be happy to take some of the Chicago folks for a drive if it was coordinated with some event I was going to anyway.
