I could see that if you were rolling in so much $$ it was sticking out of your ass, but the fact is, most people that buy these cars are not uber-billionaires like you may think, and they do have budgets and such to adhere to, and money IS somewhat of importance. But if that is his reason, then hey, good for him  |
You could be right, however, the maintenence costs alone for both vehicles would bankrupt most budgets that include a mortgage.

I'm sorry to hear about your financial troubles Mr. Webster. It must be terribly frustrating to have to trade down from a Boxster to an F430.

I was really just wondering what was so different about the two that he wants to keep both. Not trying to knock him for having both in any way. I want to know some insider details about the cars. |
congrats.. I'd trade my Boxster, my left nut, and a share of my soul for that ride...
Tifosi forever |
The cars are night'n'day different. The Ferrari has a very light feel and more edgy style (you can let the tail hang out pretty easily). The Lambo is super solid, planted, but also quite heavy. It takes much more effort to move around, but you have a higher level of confidence that you can go real fast in turns.
And that's just the driving part. Everything else is very different too. Sound, interior feel and look, and of course the difference of coupe vs spider. I'm not convinced that I'll keep both, though. If one of them turns out to be used way more than the other, I'll probably sell the lesser used one. Money is certainly a concern. And I don't have 18K gold faucets either ;). BTW, running costs are low as long as the cars are in warranty. The Lambo only has 2 years, though. The Ferrari has 4(!). |
Four is impressive.
Two is ridiculous. Shows which companies are confident in their product and which aren't. Although I've never driven or ridden on a Lambo or a Ferrari, I get the feeling their respective logos, "bull" and "horse" are descriptive metaphors for what the cars are all about. Lamborghini seems more brutish whereas Ferrari seems more light-footed, soar-through-the-air, agile; just about anything but brutish. Just my perception anyways. |

The generous 4 years on the spiders come from Ferrari bundling an extra warranty on the cars to jack up the price. It definitely still is nice, though. But as usual there's more to the story. |
man id love to get a ride in either one...an im in chicago too hehehe, hook it up man :)
great looking car, love the red |
I think about 37 people here have asked him for a ride and I have yet to see one success story :D
|
Webster,
Sweet...enjoy! |
I'd be happy to take some of the Chicago folks for a drive if it was coordinated with some event I was going to anyway.

That was a no brainer......AWESOME FERRARI BRO |
Congrats. Very, very nice F-car. And I read you have an L-car as well !!!
Makes me feel a bit cheap with a BoxsterS, BMW M3, Mits. EVO 8 MR RS and some motercycles ;-) Happen to shortly testdrove a F430-spider and a Gallardo Spider on the track just a few weeks ago. One lap with each, directly after eachother. Following a marshall and with a very strick instructor next to me. Liked the F-car much more. Cannot really put arguments to it. It just felt much nicer, balanced, better quality. F1-shift and the shift-levers in F430 are fabulous. Shifts in Lambo are nice as well but the levers ? Let's put it this way, I like the levers on my Playstation Logitech steering wheel better ;-) Woehahaha, makes me think of the F430 track lap. I went to a corner full throtlle in 2 near rev limiter, instructor yelled "break, break" and I shifted into third, went WOT for another second or so and then breaked hard and steered it into the corner. Instructor reacted nicely and said "ok, you have some track experience, but don't do that again". Mark. |
