FYI, had this installed in my '02 to prevent any pop-out when I had the clutch/RMS/IMS done. It's made a big difference in how the car shifts. Well worth the $.

I appreciate the help, thanks. The two that were grabbed up have left and are on their way today, I sent them Fedex so you should see them in 2-3 days.

Anyone else in need of one?

How does your product compare with the Gbox one?

Erik Johnson 08-23-2016 10:34 AM

It is exactly the same thing. No difference between the two.

I will take one....I am in Toronto Canada. USPS is fine with me. I will need installation instructions.

And then there was one.

I have one more of these left from the last batch made up.

Let me know if you are in need on it.

Happy to help,

They are exactly the same. No difference between the two, save the cost.

Let me know if I can help.

I did not know there are alternatives to GBox until after I had already gotten it (or I should say after the technician that I took it to that’s a really good old-school independent had learned about it and ordered one).
It, coupled with losing the prior owner’s ill-advised short shift kit (I say ill-advised because he never researched the issue before putting in a short shift kit which just made the problem worse) did the trick.
We also put in the Porsche Mobil One PTX 75W90.

It feels wonderful to be able to shift from 1st to 2nd or 3rd to 2nd with confidence and no grinding. The prior owner was good with many things especially cosmetically in terms of the condition of the car and its paint which had been ceramic coated but somebody led him astray regarding the shift issue, probably whoever talked him into putting in a short shift kit.

He did convince me to run Joe Gibbs Racing DT40 5w40 in it, I changed to that after driving it from CA to NC. I may switch my 993 to Joe Gibbs DT50 15w50.

I didn’t recall the shift throws in a 996 I had as being horrible and I don’t mind the throws in this 986 now that I’m back to a stock shiftgear shift set up with a GBox 2nd gear detent and new transmission fluid, now the car feels like it should.

Does anyone know where I can pick up one of these detents ? My second gear started acting up today.

Hi Erik,

Do you have one left? I’m thinking about putting one in preemptively.
PM me.
