FS: 986 twist wheels. $200 + shipping

**** SOLD ****

I have a spare set of 17" 986 wheels I need to move out of the storage shed and onto your car. At this point, I need the space more than the money, so I'm asking $200 + shipping from 87111. US only, please.

Their condition is fair to good. They are not concours wheels -- they'd be fine for AX or racing, or for winter tires. You could have them repainted and they'd be nice wheels. There are no cracks I could find, but they have brake dust on them, the paint is scratched up pretty well and one front wheel has a couple of spots that were apparently sanded down and repainted. I have marked these spots in the second close-up. The color matches perfectly, but the repainted spokes aren't clearcoated, so the surface finish is slightly different.

I have reduced the size of the photos by 50% so they can be uploaded to the forum, but if you need more detail, PM me and I'll send the full-size photos.

REAR WHEELS (17x8.5", offset 50)

FRONT WHEELS (17x7", offset 55)

FRONT CLOSE-UPS

I've been needing a set of Rims for Auto-X tires. These would be perfect.

Are these the standard OEM rims that would fit my 2001 S or do they come in different offsets?

What would shipping cost to 92530?

Those are the standard offsets
Get the rims and they get some RE-71s and kick some AX ass

That's a pretty good deal for wheels

re71's

I don't think they make the RE71 tire in that size yet. I couldn't find them on Tire Rack. Just a fyi.

They make them in 225/45/17 which you can run on the front, there is only 1 or 2 that make a 205/50/17 200tw extreme summer tire.

I bought the Rims, sorry Steve, but they will be my Auto-X rims so I'll put them to good use in San Diego soon.

Now I have to figure out what tires to buy. Since I can switch them out after events I don't have to worry about daily tire wear, Hurray!

I'm thinking a tire that's around or less than 200 tread wear range.

RE-71's are good for Auto-X with an unmodified "S" suspension?

I don't know about suspension but the RE71 is *the* hot tire to have for autocross these days for street classes that require a 200tw tire. If you are like me, and doing it for fun and learning, tire rack is blowing out the Gen 1 BFG Rival (not the "S" which another top autocross tire) in 225/45/17 and 255/40/17. I personally like the Hankook R-S3, it is good for autocross too but better for longer lapping sessions.

The RE71 and Rival S get up to heat quickly and so are good for short autocross runs but they wear very quickly. But if you are changing tires for the event and not daily driving, they would be perfect for that.

Good luck and let us know how you do!

I have Dunlop Star Spec in 255 & 225 and really like them for AX and track. RE 71s are a a little faster and will replace my Star Specs when they are worn out

Star Specs last a little longer than the RE71, but hell faster lap time is better
