Thanks for the link and pic - I could be wrong but these were not made for 986 Boxsters but the switch fits in the dash panel. I was going to do the mod in my Boxster. OEM 996 rear spoiler button relocate? - 6SpeedOnline - Porsche Forum and Luxury Car Resource

It's important to notice that the spoiler switch is made for the 996 dash which has horizontal switches. On the 986, of course they will fit, but your switch images will be rotated 45 degrees and might look funny. If you don't care about the pictures, and want to do it on the cheap... you can just get any old switch from the 996/986 and it will work if you wire it up properly. The common ones will be cheaper.
You can also get an indicator light that flashes when going up and down.

Thank you Winter for the suggestion. I will look into the standard switches.

I bought one of these. Works great.... but (IMHO) it was a PITA to install. When I put a 996 instrument cluster in I lost the blinking lights when it raises and lowers. The switch still functions and the solid red light illuminates when it is up so I am good with it as it is. The vendor sells them in for all applications; gloss/matte, straight or slanted and right or left side. Spoiler Control Indicator Switch Porsche Carrera Turbo 4S Boxster s 986 996 | eBay

I have a similar setup as Chuck. Mine still blinks but it is very dim until the wing is fully extended then it is nice and bright.
If you are interested I have the "none push button" version I never installed.
I changed my mind after I bought it and went with the switch from Chuck's link.

It is the glossy version, angled up for the left side.

Disregard my PM to you - excuse my ignorance I was confused about the spoiler switch. I going to go with the one that does not light up.

I am going order it from Pelican Parts - In the near future I need to order basic maintenance parts anyway

			Great idea.
Does anyone know if a similar switch is available that I can use for my Garage door controller mod? Basically I can use a similar switch wired to a (concealed) garage door opener to have a switch for Garage door opening in my 2004 Boxster base. Pics attached for reference..

It would be great if I can find a switch that has some image for this purpose embossed/printed on it. In absence of that I am forced to use a window up and down switch and I found it is not easy to remove the print...:-)

Thanks!

Yes there is a button with the garage door opener, but it comes only in mate finish (Carrera style) and horysontly mounted.

Mine just arrived from Germany. Fast shipping. Anything to watch out for now that you`ve done one ? Most of my concerns are getting the plastic bits off and the cluster. Where the connectors hard to find behind the cluster ?

			Thanks all.
$15 shipped may be a reasonable price...right now I have a window up and down switch in place for which I plan to buff off the screen print. Will change it to the sunshade switch if I find one at reasonable price...
