AOS..I thnk its time

This past weekend I could smell a bit of oil at the rear of the car. The original 2001 is still in there to my knowledge and has never failed me. My Mobil 1 only has 2100 miles on the last change and is still nice and brown. I have also noticed a puff of smoke now and then that seems to be happening more often that it did 3 years ago. As a preemptive strike I want to change it before dead of winter....who has the best price on a real OEM unit, no chinese knockoffs for me on this,

Thanks

Dwight

If you do not want to post PM me please..thanks

Dwight

Garage
Dwight,
I was thinking that I might have to do this also. The same thing is happening to me plus I get a squeal every once and awhile.

Factory units are cheap enough, just go to the dealer. List price is $121 and only a $18 difference in cost for me for genuine vs. URO parts.

FYI the easy give away for checking to see if your separator is bad is to leave the engine running and try to pull off the oil filler cap. If you can pull it off then you are fine, if not then it is time to replace!

FYI - I just noticed one of my main suppliers is now offering the Porsche Motorsport oil separator!! They are not cheap (OVER $800 in PARTS ALONE) but if you track your car a lot or have had problems eating up separators then this is what you need...

Porsche part # 996 107 926 00
Notes:
Reduces engine smoking caused by extreme driving conditions.
Modifications will be necessary on cars not already equipped.
Also use (Qty.) (2) 900 067 316 01 bolts.
Also use (Qty.) (1) 996 107 947 00 line
