I think the pictures explain why it is being sold for parts.
These pictures are older, so there is not much left. The wheels and lights were gone by the time I saw the car. The top had some damage on the passenger side that you cannot see in the picture.

Car does not seem that bad. Wonder why it could be saved? Less than 9K miles? I would have saved a limited edition Boxster.

The yard that has it is not a Porsche specialist. Maybe they didn't realize what they had or have access to someone who could repair it economically.
Just so everyone is clear, I don't own the car. The yard that has it is not a "pull a part" operation. They will let you look at the car, but their employee has to remove the parts due to liability concerns. It is pretty well picked clean now and has been sitting out in the weather for what appears to have been about 2 years. The pictures on the web site were taken right after the car arrived.
