Wanted: drivers side windstop mesh screen - 986 Forum - The Community for Porsche Boxster & Cayman Owners

I just bought a 2003 Boxster and the screen that fits within the roll bar on the drivers side is missing. Does anyone have that part? I dont want to buy a complete set and plastic windscreen from the dealer. Are the passenger side and drivers side mesh screen the same?

Bdel, they are not identical, but a mirror image left and right. I bet you can't buy just one from the dealer. They come in sets. I do see the right or the left only on Ebay from time to time though.

What a pity you only need one. Grrr.

Actually, I have one. My passenger side flew off, so I took the other one out. I'll sell it to you if you want. Anybody know how much they're actually worth separately?

My dealer was willing to sell me only one side ( R or L) in fact when I went into parts dept they had only 1 side (R) in stock. I think the reg dlr price was $167 per side and parts guy gave me a discounted price of $127.

Just a comment on the whole pricing of these things used and new:

Friggin' ridiculous!

I looked into manufacturing them in China to sell on Ebay to fund my 3.4 engine swap. Injection molds are $10k plus $18 a set for a minimum order of 1000 sets. Wife nixed the whole idea saying I'd never get my 28k out of it as there's not a large enough market for rollbar inserts.

Anyone here have an injection mold company?

I bought a drivers panel (UK right side) for £25.00 from a breakers yard.
