It will be expensive to buy a new part. I had a bad factory fob on my last Boxster and even the dealer couldn't program it with new innards. They checked with Atlanta and Stuttgart and just couldn't get it to work. My suggestion is let the dealer handle trying to redo your existing fob with: battery, new guts and programming before you pay for anything used, secondhand or on the web. It will probably cost less in the long run. Good luck.
