What JVC model and do you like it?

I am thinking of a JVC upgrade as well.

Jvc Kd-hdr50

I bought a JVC HDR50 from Crutchfield

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-frxcds86Mlj/p_105KDHDR50/JVC-KD-HDR50.html

Cons:
Awkward little button for next/prev channel/song.
Remote Control only seems to work if you point it directly at the radio face.
Had to buy extra jack splitters from radio shack to wire up dash speakers. I don't have door speakers and not sure how those would wire up.
For 2001 boxster, the provided harness had the switched and unswitched wires swapped. After I installed and discovered, I had to pull it back out and cut wires.

Pros:
Excellent sound, makes the oem dash speakers sound very full.
Pretty nice fit, not a hard diy install.
USB plug lets you plays MP3s from a thumbdrive or iPod.
29 color illumination.
When I had problems with speaker wiring, the crutchfield phone support was *excellent*, perhaps the best tech support I've had in years. The guy had my wiring diagram in front of him and understood my "it's the black dbl decker looking thing" comments. Very good.

For $159 w/ free shipping and installation kit, it was a good deal. I'd buy it again.

Always pros and cons...

That is a good HU - from JVC either that or the JVC KD-S100 with the Biongiovi acoustics which would bring in rear speakers really well but lacks some features and doesn't allow color change.

btw - If you just have the dash speakers do your self a favor and upgrade (check photo). I put in the infinity kappa 42.9i (4") and the different is night and day. You can pick them up for $64.

My remote works fine, check your battery. Oh, I have the same jvc unit. I get my infinity kappas 4" front & 4x6 rears on the 11th. I have the stock door speakers and they are only good for bass and not even that good. I may change them out tdown the road, but didn't want the hassle of prying off my door panel at this time. I had to go into the user interface and adjust the eq's to get it to sound half way decent. I sure hope the kappas live up to their hype!!

My only complaint about the jvc so far is the fm presets are a pain, and I still get no am reception. I gotta take off the a pillar and check out the connection.

I saw the crutchfield prices but did some searches and amazon had them much
cheaper. It was Barneys Electronics through Amazon. I made sure they weren't
refurbs or used before I ordered. I doubt they are an Infinity certified dealer, but
for the price who cares. If they break I will just order a new pair from
somewhere else and return the old ones.
