Salt does not just mark up your car like a rock does. It physically eats away at the paint and/or metal, eventually can rot it through completely. It will hide up in all the trim pieces where car washes cannot clean.

Also, heat speeds up the chemical reactions that can lead to rust... so any places near your exhaust/muffler are rusting at an increased rate, regardles of how often you wash your car.
