both cars being equal (condition, mileage, history, etc.), I would go for the S. I've driven both and the standard is a slug compared to the S.
If you are saving a bunch of money and not doing a lot of spirited driving, then the standard Boxster is fine.
Drive 'em both and make your decision. You'll get a lot of opinions on the board, but yours is the most important.
