The rear trunk absolutely does not work. You CAN put a sub in the front trunk, and do some serious homework to design a tuned port that comes into the cabin through the passenger side steering column slot (where the steering column would be on a RHD car), but you have almost made a bandbass enclosure now which will provide SPL over a very narrow range (i.e. have kick or "bump") but wiill not be terribly musical. What most do is build a small sub into the passenger side footwell sacrificing passenger footwell space.

I am currently installing a JL 8W3 in a sealed enclosure (glassed into the countours to gain a bit of volume in the enclosure) and can post pics when finished.
