Full Moon Madness?
FULL MOON MADNESS?
Rural New South Wales, Australia,2200hrs.2nd March 2007. My wife is away for the weekend. I’m sitting alone on the front porch overlooking a tranquil lake with enchantingly mystic mountains in the background. It’s a warm ,balmy evening with a full moon highlighting the silvery white outline of a few drifting cumulus. The pervasive quiet is only interrupted by the occasional eerie howl of a wild dingo. A completely captivating and magical night.
However, I’m inexplicably restless. Could it be “full moon madness”? Maybe I should just howl like the distant dogs!
OR
Why not take my ‘03 silver Box. for a run and let her do the howling!
The top is down, engine is warmed up ,the“high beam” illuminates the familiar deserted mountain road ahead and the cooler air invades the cabin. We’ve settled into that familiar rhythmic, braking, shifting, acceleration through each corner, and the
“tachos” orange glow shows the needle flicking around the 5k. Man and machine in exhilarating and joyous harmony and that wonderful sonorous exhaust “note” echoing through the hills in answer to those distant dingoes.
Am I mad? Have I died and gone to heaven?
Probably a little of the former but I hope not the later as I’m looking forward to my 70th birthday later this year.
Cheers,
Glenn (from "Down Under")
