Black Smoke

It is natural for a Flat engine to shoot black smoke once in a while when starting up. The pistons are laying sideways and sometimes a little bit of oil gets in and you get black smoke when starting up.

Another reason you would get black smoke is that oil from the air and oil seperator is failing and oil is traveling through the J-tube into the intake manifold and some oil are burned.

If constant smoking= Rich mixture. your exchaust tip would have a build up of black stuff.
