5 mm Spacers and Bolts

When I got my PSS9 suspension installed and the car lowered, the mechanic said that I would be better off by putting on 5mm spacers on all the wheels. I have been driving without the spacers and it seems to be fine, but my all-season tires are not as wide as the PS2's I will be putting on as soon as it warms up.

When I got my 2000 Boxster I was disappointed to see all the rust on the lug bolts. I went ahead and sprung for some beautful Booth chromed bolts for the front wheels, because they are easiest to see.

I just got in the 5mm spacer plates and set of lug bolts from Sunset Imports (300.00). Unfortunately, my nice Booth bolts are a little too short. I had some Wurth silver spray paint I used to touch up my old pair of wheels. I figured I had nothing to lose, so I cleaned the factory bolts with solvent and sprayed them with the silver paint, mostly to help avoid rapid rusting. I have no idea if the paint is going to come off right away or not. Anyone tried anything like this?
