The Radium King;669946]to be clear - fokker has a 2004 which runs a 7.8 dme and pepper has a 2000 which runs a 7.2.
Right, but both have very similar firmware. The difference lies in the capacity and therefore the number of management submaps.

the 7.8 is very open source and easy to program. lots of info out in the wild for the 7.8.

there is not a lot out there for the 7.2. porsche keeps this info very proprietary so what is known has been reverse engineered by people dumping the ecu and trying to extrapolate what all the little bits and bytes mean. that takes a lot of work and those that have done it (softronic, etc.) keep that info close (a) to get some return on investment, and (b) so it doesn't become obvious that even the pros haven't cracked the entire ecu (ie, iirc most of the pro tunes you can get for the 7.2 play with fuelling and rpm limit but nothing touches the timing).
Let me tell you, I disagree. The key maps in this ECU are the load limiters, calculated air mass, and advance. Adjusting the injection without playing with the air makes no sense; you'll inject more fuel—which you won't be able to burn per cycle—so when you reach the unburned lambda sensors, they'll reduce what you've added.

I added more information to the other post a weeks ago, but it's under moderation, I don't know why. I simply inserted a screenshot as best I could, I'm not sure if it was correct. In any case, I'd like to wait until it's published so as not to clutter the thread.
I'll wait another week, and if the post doesn't appear, I'll try to continue.

I understand that there might not be much information about this in the USA (although that seems strange to me), however, these ECUs have nothing to hide at this point; let's not forget they've been on the market for 25 years.

What could be done has already been done.

The only really complicated thing is controlling the timing advance so the Variocam doesn't jerk, but this can be achieved with a few trial and error steps without too much effort.
