THeres a lot of new data out there proving that not even a handsfree device makes talking on a cell phone while driving any less dangerous.
It sure makes it a lot easier to shift plus I can turn my head easily to look to the side before I change lanes. Of course I can't argue that talking on a cell phone is a distraction, but I have a hard time believing that using a handsfree device is equally dangerous to that of someone with one hand on the steering wheel.

I rarely ever answer my phone when I'm in my Boxster as I need the extra hand for shifting, but in my automatic truck I am guilty of talking on the cell phone. I do make a conscious effort to minimize lane changes as well as focus more when coming to an intersection. The same goes when I have a "royale with cheese" in hand...
