Drain plug and filter housing both remove perpendicular (straight down) to ground and thus minimizing any "mess". Contrast w my F150 3.5L TT EgoBoost which is a serious drain plug "squirter" and major filter dribbler (onto fixed undercarriage panel
) as both remove parallel to ground.
Regardless, for draining and even filling fluids in vehicles and other equipment these flex/shapable shields/funnels are great to have on hand.
