This is totally achievable if you have time, tools and space.
I did have the advantage of a friend with a lift.
Between the 101 peojects, the bently book and utube there is enough info out there.
I did find "burner" usefull.
I did buy all parts in advance including the notorious bearing fix.
Hindsight being 20/20, I found a beautiful bearing in place.
I did replace it as I had the part, however if I did it again I would inspect the IMS being in place first. The one in my 2000S likely did not need replacing.
I found the boots split so I added that to the project. (dont forget new hardware if you take the axlex off at the transmission).
This is something you can do, take your time.
