Proper Intro - New Owner, 1999 986

So I should have posted an introduction first, then started asking questions and for advice. Sorry for being rude, let me do this right.

Loved sports cars my entire life, but got involved with racing bikes so never really thought much about actually owning one. My first car was a Firebird Formula, but I really think that was Dad's choice, not mine. Mostly I've owned trucks and vans to get the bikes from race to race.

Long story short, a little money in the bank, Boxster prices plummet, a little sponsorship helps reduce the motorcycle racing budget, a trip down to San Diego and I got my 1999, 85,000 miles on the clock. Leaky transmission pan (now fixed), digital climate control LCD on the fritz (next on the agenda), but everything else works, and I love it.

I have zero plans to improve the performance of this car. I just want to maintain it well, keep it running and enjoy that which Porsche hath wrought.

One last thing: If you get a chance to do one of the Porsche Experience Centers, do it. I don't know which I liked better, hauling around the "handling track" in a 911 Carrera S, watching mechanics working on the Mario/Michael Andretti 962 or standing next to the Rodriquez/Oliver 917 kurzheck that they co-drove at Spa in 1971. Just an amazing afternoon.

OK. Upon reflection, driving that Carrera through the replica of the Karussell and coming out with my foot on the floor was the best part.
