If you ask a question here, expect people to give you the best answer they know. Take it or leave it, that's your option.

I have both a 986 and a 996. Its more of a lateral move than a trade up. More power, but the 986 handles better and is ore fun to drive

The 996 cab will give you the option to have a rug rat in the back seat and the wife in the front. The back seat is not a good option for a full sized person

The best performance option with a family is a Macan. Get rid of the POS Pathfinder and get a Macan or even a Cayenne Its also a lot safer with a child seat than a ragtop. I know you don't want to hear that, TFB. A Macan will outperform most sports cars. In know several people that track them and are competitive.
