Replaced Electrical Side of Ignition Switch Today.

First off, the 15 minutes to switch it out after watching the videos on YouTube was 45 for me. That is just par for the course when I work on things. Maybe the next time, I could do it in 15.

I did the replacement for several reasons.
Key was stiff.
Electrical seems like it has some quirks that might be addressed by replacing the ignition switch.
Cheap $30 investment if it solves any other issues.

So now my issues may just be not understanding the Boxster and it's operation.

When I turn my car off and pull the key.
The dash lights stay on for about 30-45 Seconds.
The small back lighting (?) over the rear view mirror and door handles remain on for a long time. What is long, I am guessing 30 minutes or more? (It may be the same as the hood trunk release buttons, it is hard to see even at night.)
The hood/trunk release buttons next to the drivers seat seem to remain lit even longer. 2-3 hours at least.

My car sits in a garage so usually I yank the keys and throw them on the dash, so it is never locked.

Tonight I decided to see what happens when I lock the car.
The dash lights went off immediately.
Dome and Door Handle tiny lighting still stayed on with the Hood Trunk lights.
Hood Trunk Release lights were still on when I went inside. Are they on the same circuit?

What is the proper operation and timing of the lighting?
What is the proper duration?
Is my car functioning as designed?

I have a remote key fob that does not function. If it did would things operate differently?

Obviously I don't have an operators manual.
Any help would be appreciated.
