Just like all the other new rules for the environment, less Hazmat going to garbage dumps. That's why they want you to change oil at 15,000 miles.
I have had my SOF adapter since 2006 (bought from Jake Raby) along with the magnetic drain plug. Never any issues with either part & I had to R&R the SOF when the case went to LN in 2009.
