Now that you mention it... you are correct. I painted black on my stock 986, non-S, the intake vents feeding the radiators. The chips are noticeable and I have, on occasion and when wanting to "clean it up a bit" have taken a black magic marker to those dots and chips. It's a pain in the arse.

I repainted them a few weeks, a month, ago and already they show signs of wear.

While the black looks great... be prepared for some routine maintenance.
