I drive mine from April to October and change it once a year in the fall before it gets put into hibernation and usually is under 5000 KM (3000 M). If I drove it year round I would change it every 3,000 to 5,000 miles, or twice a year. Oil is the cheapest engine wear insurance you can buy. I do it myself and buy Mobil 1 0W40 when it goes on sale at Canadian Tire for ~$30.00 CDN (~$22.00 USD) for a 4.4 Litre jug. I buy my filters on line. Total cost comes to ~$75.00 CDN (~$55.00 USD). Oil and Filter change on a Boxster is an easy DIY all you need is a floor jack, 2 jack stands and a torque wrench with appropriate sockets.
