It sounds like your synchros are getting old. Good luck finding a 97-99 5 speed. Some spec boxster guys go through those like tires. You'll probably have to send yours off to get rebuilt. I recommend getting it done before you do too much damage to a gear. Not something that needs to be done right away, but sooner the better
