If it's a tiptronic then yes. The tiptronic monitors how you drive and adjusts itself to try to match your shift patterns, if you have a heavy foot it'll change up at higher revs etc. It is continually adjusting but can be reset by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes.
Not really a great service they're doing you butm if it's a tip, they are correct at least.
