They don't say what year the car was but the part that caught my attention was this: "consider that our man Dokianakis bought his $53,935 Boxster with just 4000 miles on the clock for 35 grand."
They don't mention the year but I have to assume 2005. At $53,935 sticker, this was obviously no base car. Does anyone know where these $35,000 987s are?
I was thinking of getting a Solstice GXP or Sky Redline because of affordability but if I can find a 987 well into the 30s I would definitely pay the premium.

The car in question is in fact a base not an S. The GXP actually beat the base boxster by over a second at the track?? Very suprising. I guess it had more torque to pull itself out of the turns. They did notice that the Solstice had a drag coeffiecient of .45 though! I must say that is horrible. Did they even test it in a wind tunnel? The base boxster is slightly slower to 60 and in the 1/4 but it is almost 2 sec quicker to 130. Drag is a killer.
