If the light was stuck on, the fob has issues and will need repairs. The car has possibly also locked the key out due to repeated button presses (when the light was stuck on).
To start, the buttons should be replaced, but the IC solder joints shoulder also be checked and re-flowed. After that, you could try re-sync procedures if the fob still doesn't work.
