OK, well that's still $95,000 USD, and is more than the price of a 911 S in the states.

We'd all like to have rocket performance with all the bells and whistles, for a low price... sadly that's not economically feasible.

Your original question was when will Porsche provide yada yada yada at $45,600. The obvious response is, when it is economically feasible. The example you're citing doesn't support your contention that other companies are providing such cars.

The noble M12 uses a turbo-charged Ford engine and has no long-term reliability history, nor is it considered a daily-driver, unlike most Porsches. The car is also lacking a concertina folding roof that folds like a pack of cards and a naturally aspirated 4ltr flat six.

In short, what's your point?
Hi,

Actually, you can get a Noble M400 in the US for $90k. 425HP, 0-60 in 3.3, Top Speed 165+. True it has a FORD sourced Duratec 3.0L V-6. But, it is throroughly massaged by Roush Technologies, who ditch pretty much everything but the Block, most of the internals are produced to Roush specifications and a pair of ceramic bearing Air Research Turbos are added. This is actually a very reliable powerplant.

Ford is one of the world's specialists in casting technology, having invented the casting techniques for the 1st V8 some 70+ years ago. Since then, Ford Blocks have been well respected from the old Ford/Kents and Offenhausers to the more modern Duratecs. The M400 can definitely be considered a Daily Driver and will beat almost anything coming from Stuttgart or Uusikaupunki. I would own one in a minute if the top came off, Cabriolet or Targa.

But, I do agree with your views on when and why Porsche doesn't offer what the author is wishing for...

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99
