I know exactly what you mean. You are on a straight, gaining speed in 3rd and lots of track left.
Do I hold it to 7k and then shift up and then back down a few seconds later, or do I short shift and have more time in 4th to get the car settled before down shifting
The one thing you know is you don't want to stay in third and slow down
