Bloody hell thats crazy. I did this yesterday on my 99. Part cost 122, genuine porsche. Took me about 75 minutes, with minimal tools required.
A shop with experience should easily be able to do this in under 2 hours. 500 max and even thats crazy.
Id ask them to put a worm clamp on the bellows which makes future diy easy
