I've been reading the Hartech articles and the one thing that they repeatedly indicate is that problems do exist with these motors but they are still exceedingly rare. The articles are also at this point are a few years old so it would be interesting to hear from Hartech on recent findings about these motors and the newer 9A1 motors. I would say that if you maintain the car to high standards and install a low temp thermostat the risks are really low and based on that you should buy the newest best condition Boxster you can afford not really worry too much about it.

What is interesting is the cost to rebuild these motor seems to be more reasonable than what you would pay for a rebuild in the US especially when you see what Hartech has invested in equipment and knowledge.
