You're a good friend for refilling with distilled water and doing a proper purge, after your friend ignored your advice to use a Porsche mechanic and ended up with an air bubble in the coolant system. I would recommend he have everything the mechanic did double checked by a mechanic with Porsche experience. If they mixed coolants, that needs to be flushed and replaced asap.
